3CX setup for your property
Copy each value below into 3CX. No public phone line (DID) required — route from your digital receptionist instead.
Your SIP trunk credentials
- Main Trunk Number (required in 3CX)
- —
- Registrar / Host
- —
- Authentication ID / Username
- —
- Password
- —
- Port
- 5060 (UDP/TCP)
The Main Trunk Number is assigned by TataVoice (not a real PSTN line). 3CX requires it — paste it as-is.
1. Choose provider type
Choose your SIP Trunk VoIP Provider → Generic (Support by Provider) → Generic VoIP Provider (Registration).
Do not use Twilio or Generic SIP Trunk (IP Based).
2. Fill in the Add Trunk form
| 3CX field | Value |
|---|---|
| Main Trunk Number * | — |
| Name | e.g. TataVoice AI |
| Authentication ID | — |
| Authentication password | — |
| Optional 3-way authentication | Leave unchecked |
| Registrar / Server * | — |
| Port * | 5060 |
| Outbound Proxy | Leave empty |
Save — trunk should show Registered (green) within a minute.
3. Use without a public DID (IVR → extension)
This is the usual setup: TataVoice is an internal AI destination inside 3CX. Your main number / receptionist stays on 3CX; you forward callers to the AI when you want.
- Register the trunk (step 2). You do not need a telco DID for TataVoice.
-
Create an extension in 3CX for the AI handoff — e.g. extension
334(any free extension number works). -
Route that extension to TataVoice: set the extension to forward / deliver calls
to your TataVoice SIP trunk (outbound rule or “forward to outside number” using
trunk
—/ registrarsip.tatavoice.com). Exact menu varies by 3CX version — goal: dialling ext 334 sends the call to TataVoice. - Digital Receptionist (IVR): edit your welcome menu → option 2 (or any key) → Transfer to extension 334 (or your chosen extension).
- Caller presses 2 → 3CX transfers to ext 334 → call goes to TataVoice → your AI agent answers with your greeting.
4. Optional: direct DID later
If you later buy a phone number from your telco, add an inbound rule in 3CX that routes that DID
straight to the TataVoice trunk (same credentials). Main Trunk Number stays
—.
5. Firewall
Allow UDP/TCP 5060 and RTP between 3CX and
sip.tatavoice.com (157.90.171.7).
6. Test
Call your 3CX main number → press 2 on the IVR → you should hear your AI greeting. Check Recent calls on the dashboard.
